I recently read Enchantment, the Audrey Hepburn biography by Donald Spoto, and find myself more in awe of Ms. Hepburn than ever before. These old publicity shots for Breakfast at Tiffany’s taken by Howell Conant are only further evidence as to her nymph-like charm. The simple setting speaks volumes about the film, don’t you think? Open bubbly in an unpacked apartment—Holly Golightly in a nutshell!

I just got done reading Fifth Avenue 5 AM by Sam Wasson, about the making of Tiffany’s and such! I loved it! I’ve never seen these publicity shots, what a treat:)

Lena — Do! I learned so much about her childhood and such. A lovely woman.
Alyssa — Ohh I’m dying to read it! My aunt emailed me a couple weeks ago raving out it. Must pick up a copy!

Such gorgeous photos! I have loved Breakfast at Tiffany’s my whole life, even before I fully understood the concept of it. As a child I was captivated by the clothes and seemingly glamorous lifestyle of Miss Golightly. Nowadays I’m struck by the complexity of her character. I love Cat in these shots. So cute!

Lauren — Complexity of her character : ) What a kind way of putting it. xx

Maureen — I’m glad you brought up her work with UNICEF because it was the most touching part of the biography. I was literally brought to tears reading about the malnourished children she held, sometimes as they literally died, in her arms. Ms. Hepburn’s role model status far transcends her stylish wardrobe!

Yes, these are so lovely! I’m drinking champagne with a friend this afternoon who is packing up for her move to NYC (booooo hoo hoo for me) and now I’m even MORE excited about it, if that’s even possible!

I read that bio as well and loved it. There was a lot more sorrow in her life than I anticipated, but she was so strong throughout everything. Funny how her acting career only really seems like a footnote now that I’ve become familiar with the rest of her life – I admire her even more now, which I didn’t think was possible! Nice to know she was as classy and kind in person and she was on screen. :)

I had a moment today where I realized I was getting close to the end of the book I’m reading. I had no idea what I was going to read next until I saw this post of yours. You saved me, Katie.
