These enchanting photos of Grace Kelly the night she won her 1954 Oscar were simply too charming to keep to myself! The intimate glimpses of the star rehearsing her acceptance speech in the car and later with a sailor eager for an autograph reveal such a sense of nervousness and excitement. Kelly was a mere 25-years-old at the time and won for her starring role in ‘The Country Girl.’ She wore an ice-blue dress by costume designer Edith Head and beat out the likes of Judy Garland and Audrey Hepburn that year for the Best Actress Award.

Too lovely, indeed.
There’s also a pic of Grace and Audrey a few years later at the Oscars that is for me the epithome of elegance and femininity.
Looking forward for Edith’s post ; she was such a character :).
(hope you’re feeling better, Dear x)

Gorgeous! Funny how I’m her age in those photos and yet she seems so much older and more sophisticated. :)

Teresa — Thank you for the well wishes. I took Alfie to the vet this morning and my head cold is lifting. We are both on the mend! I know just the picture of Grace and Audrey you speak of—I believe it is from the following year when Grace was presenting the award (her last year before leaving Hollywood to become a princess!). What a life! xoxo

Grace symbolizes all the beauty of Old Hollywood for me. That’s one lady I wish I could have had dinner or tea with.

She is such a sweet vision. I have not seen the film and I am sure she deserved it, but I am a true fan of Judy Garland’s. I wish she had won for her incomparable performance in A Star is Born! Love Grace, but will forever wish Judy had won!

these are amazing…

Grace Kelly was so young, yet so very WOMAN. I’m older than she was on the night she won her oscar, yet I still feel more girl than woman. Funny that.
Did you know that she, Audrey, and Jackie were all born in the same year? Something must have been in the water in 1929. There has never been a more beautiful and lovely trio.
Anna@ IHOD says
She will always be one of favorite examples of style, dignity, and grace.
Beautiful!

Didn’t she go with Oleg Cassini to this event? It looks like him in the car. I was just reading an article about him in NY Magazine. Interesting fellow..
