Happy Mother’s Day, my sweet readers. If I’m being honest, Mother’s Day is tough after struggling with infertility for over two years, but my amazing mom (for whom I am eternally grateful) reminded me yesterday that this will hopefully be the last year I’m childless (we are so excited to adopt). In the meantime, I’ll be celebrating my own mother (really though, she’s the best) and avoiding social media for the day as it tends to bring on all the pity tears. As we prepare to grow our family, I can’t help but dream about decorating our baby’s room and today, I wanted to share a whimsical nursery by talented west coast interior designer Dina Bandman. The lovely lemon grove-inspired space was created for the 2018 San Francisco Decorator Showhouse and is covered in a handpainted and beaded de Gournay wallpaper (those lemons look good enough to eat!). Below, explore more of the truly one-of-a-kind children’s room.
The acrylic canopy crib was a custom design by PlexiCraft, but you can find something similar here. Bandman clearly thought of every detail–how fun is the Samuel & Sons tassel trim on the custom arched curtains?
The mirrored closet doors help to visually expand the jewel box space. The baby clothes hanging inside pull at my heartstrings…so darn sweet.
My favorite detail in the room has to be the latticework on the ceiling. Indoor treillage is always a good idea in my book—it truly brings the outdoors in. I’m also loving the yellow tassels on the dresser drawer pulls, aren’t they charming? Simon and I just booked at trip to Rome next month and I can’t wait to visit my favorite passementerie shop there (you can bet I’ll be bringing home tassels galore!).
The gingham accents inside the closet are perfection. Gingham has made such a comeback lately and I’m totally in favor of it. I also can’t help but admire the sleek brass hardware—those little drawer knobs are such a chic touch.
The yellow sunflower pendant is a custom design created by Coleen & Company (their lanterns have long been on my decorating bucket list). The playful Lalanne-inspired sheep sculptures can be purchased here.
California Closets created the nursery closet. The perfectly organized little moccasins kill me with cuteness!
Below, find some suggestions for how to get the look in your own home. Enjoy!

So sorry to hear about you struggling with infertility- been there myself. Get in touch with Alisa Vitti and her team. She helped me conceive after 3 years of trying. Otherwise as you are saying adoption is a wonderful option ❤️

Hi! Thanks for this great post – amazing inspo for a nursery! I’m considering this for our baby girl arriving next month. I really love the sconces on either side of the crib. Do you know who these are by? Thanks!
