Darling Dorset by Maira Kalman

I’m eager to visit New York this fall and artist Maira Kalman’s Darling Dorset exhibition at Julie Saul Gallery is at the top of my to do list. The series of eleven gouache paintings is described as “a valentine to the beautiful region on the Southwest part of the UK where Maira Kalman travelled to look at luscious early summer gardens, visit and reside in old houses, and observe her fellow wanderers.” My funny British husband, Simon, grew up in Dorset so the area is near and dear to his heart.
