I just read a fascinating piece in the The New York Times about young American students studying ballet at Moscow’s world-renowned Bolshoi Academy. The light in these photographs by James Hill is stunningly beautiful, no? You can read the piece here. Oh and the accompanying video is fantastic as well—I teared up, what courage they have!
I danced for 14 years and still I cry when I see dancers. My daughter dances and I admire her for dancing with her heart.
Off to watch the video and to cry.

PVE — I admire you and your daughter! I only wish I’d fell in love with dance at a young age. The young people at the Bolshoi blow me away… You’ll love the video. XX Katie
I loved that video and I want to help JOY!

I watched this and loooved it. I always wanted to be a ballerina; it is one my biggest regrets that I gave up ballet so many years ago. The video and story were amazing.
I hope one day to see Joy dance at the Bolshoi!
What an amazing video! She has such grace and talent that I hope she is able to continue with the Bolshoi! If I had the money, I would give it to her. Fabulous!

I watched the video this morning before I got out of bed, and I can’t wait to read the article- she seems so grounded and wise beyond her years, and what an amazing dancer!
