Kate — So funny you say it’s not your fave because when I posted it I was asking myself, hmmm I wonder what my FAVORITE Jane Austen is. I think I have to go with Pride + Prej…call me boring. XO
Alexandrasays
ugh kate you’ve done it again. just when i thought i didn’t know anyone whos style aesthetic matched mine perfectly (we even share the same black and green kate spade planner), you went and posted this. not many of my friends know this movie, but it has to be one of my all time favorites, and this scene- i die! this movie is what kicked off my love for all things gwyneth at the age of 11, and don’t even get me started on my lifelong search for a knightley of my own.
Alexandra — Ahhhh comments like yours make my day! I too have a fascination with Mr. Knightley and this picture alone makes my heart skip a beat. Gwyneth will always be one of my favorites, I mean, Emma, Royal Tenenbaums AND Shakespeare in Love! It’s all too much… So glad you’re enjoying my little blog! A kindred spirit to be sure XOXOXO
I know many people can’t stand Emma, but I actually quite like her! She can be vapid and vain, but also very loving and supportive of her father. I love the book; there are really so many interesting themes that beg for discussion (i.e. class, love and marriage, the individual vs. society, etc). I re-read it for a book group last year, and I found that we still had things to talk about long after our initial discussion was over. It’s like the deeper you dig, the more there is to talk about. It’s truly brilliant.
And this version with Gwyneth is my absolute favorite.

Love this book. Love that film version (the costuming and set design are out of this world). And, I ADORE that scene and how it was shot! So romantic.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! If you didn’t happen to see the PBS miniseries when it aired, I strongly recommend it.
I just started the mini series last night finally! I downloaded it from itunes on my computer : ) xo
Love this book. Not my fave Jane Austen, but love love love it. Perfect quote for the day!

Glad to hear you started the new Masterpiece Theater version! So, so good! I just bought the Masterpiece Jane Austen box set, in fact. :)
Mariel — I saw the box set at the store yesterday and was SOOO tempted! XO
Katie – Pride & Prej is a good one, so not boring a boring choice at all! Mine is definitely Persuasion with P&P in close second. :)
