Australian interior designer Anna Spiro recently published photos of her completed Sorrento beach house project and I was delighted to finally see it after months of sneak peeks on instagram. Though I originally thought she was working on a project in Italy (!!) I quickly realized that there’s also a Sorrento in Victoria, Australia—a bit closer to home for the Anna Spiro Design team. Below, explore more of the beautiful abode.
Like all of Anna’s projects, the home is bursting with color in clever combinations. I’m crazy about the brush fringe on that pillow and the Soane Seaweed Lace on the lampshade.
Details of the striped slipcovered chair and lovely fringed pillow.
The unusual shape of the ottoman is quite fabulous, don’t you think? And I don’t know about you, but I certainly never met a mustard yellow block print I didn’t like.
The hats hanging, the elegant lantern, the pink door frame—be still my heart!
Gorgeous green walls in one of the many bedrooms.
A fabulous upholstered headboard (anything marbled and I’m sold!) and more brush fringe pillows.
Love the sweet animal print fabric used for the curtains and the bed pillow. Is it Brunschwig? Pierre Frey? Let me know if you know.
Note to self: Add pitcher to Royal Copenhagen collection. What a sweet vase it makes. Also that canary yellow silk pleated lampshade is pretty wonderful—a little ruffle never hurt anyone.
Peeking into a bathroom. I love all the colorful tiles Anna used on the floors throughout the home.
The closets may be my favorite part of the house. They look like all the fabulous English closets you see in House & Garden magazine. Talk about storage goals.
A yummy tufted ottoman with fabulous fringe on an antique rug.
I definitely want a plaid sofa at the foot of my bed now. So handsome.
The blue custom closet of my dreams.
Love the color combo of the walls and the molding in this bedroom. More brush fringe on the pillows! And another plaid settee at the foot of the bed.
Gorgeous blue closet and a gorgeous blue velvet chair.
A pillow detail. Love the fabric—Décors Barbares I believe…?
A stunning marble bathtub and more fabulous floor tiles.
Gorgeous brass fittings on the marble bathtub.
This attic bedroom is so cozy and layered to perfection. Love the upholstered headboard especially.
The multi-colored tile in this bathroom is a favorite. Also this door/wall color combo—too good!
A pineapple table lamp sits in a dark moody bedroom with a oil landscape on the wall.
The second pineapple table lamp and a gorgeous white custom closet.
Vintage plates hanging on the wall in the light-filled kitchen.
A large wood island perfect for prepping meals.
I love that Anna’s hung large oil paintings in the kitchen. Art in the kitchen always makes it feel less bland.
A charming blue pantry with open shelving (and lots of Royal Copenhagen!).
More dreamy Royal Copenhagen and a bit of classic white Le Creuset.
Obsessed with this crewel sofa.
Brush fringe, plaid, and crewel…be still my heart.
A ruffled skirted sink and playful pop of tropical wallpaper in the bathroom.
This gingham ruffled skirt in the mud room is one of my favorite details in the house.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this home tour—pop on over to Anna’s site to see even more photos! And if you love Anna’s designs as much as I do be sure to check out her wonderful book. Stay tuned for more interior inspiration later this week!

When I was last back in Australia and visiting Halcyon House (one of my favourite places in the world), I saw she was working on a Sorrento beach house and got my hopes up that she was working on another Halcyon House-style hotel on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Alas not, but goodness what a dream it must be to live in this house!

It’s a lovely house, really inviting and comfortable – the way it should be! The colour combinations are daring and eccentric, making it really personal.
The mustard fabric on the hexagonal ottoman, incidentally, is by the wonderful Fermoie.
Katie Armour Taylor says
Toby – Love Fermoie–I should have known! Thanks for stopping by!

Did you ever find out who that whimsical animal print is from? Trying to track it down. Thank you!

Wondering if anyone knows where the striped fabric on the slipcovered chair is from? Thanks!
