When I envision my dream house it always has a cozy home library with built-in bookshelves from floor to ceiling. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always had a weakness for a comfy reading nook. Below, I’ve gathered some of my all-time favorite home libraries as inspiration for my fellow bibliophiles. Do you have a favorite? I’m partial to the handsome burgundy options. Enjoy!
I love the lacquered red in this Upper West Side library designed by Pappas Miron.
Caroline Sieber’s London home combines a gorgeous blue library and dining room.
These elegant glass front bookshelves make for a sophisticated space.
This striking home library by interior designer Daniel Romualdez has long been a favorite.
A handsome space by the late, great Albert Hadley. Love the simple etageres mixed with antiques.
This dreamy apartment on Paris’ Rue de Varenne can be rented on One Fine Stay.
A bold, red home library decorated by interior designer Beverly Fields.
Modern shelving in the Copenhagen loft of Tina Seidenfaden Busck, owner of beloved design boutique, The Apartment.
A dreamy blue library in Jeanette Whitson’s Nashville home. Love the tented ceiling!
One of my all-time favorite photos. The 11th Earl of Devonshire napping in the library of Chatsworth House.
Jeffrey Bilhuber designed this chic, country house library.
Illustrator Pierre Le Tan‘s Paris home has the green library of my decorating dreams.
Diane von Furstenberg’s Connecticut home has a bright white home library.
The 18th-century Parisian home of Charles Garnett and Sylvain Lévy-Alban has a magical burgundy library. I’m loving the tiger stripes, too.
Textile designer Carolina Irving‘s prewar Manhattan apartment has bookshelves throughout.
A glamorous space (love the lighting) by interior designer Ryan Korban.
Emerald green never looked so good. The leopard print ottomans and antique crystal chandelier are the icing on the cake.
Moda Operandi‘s Lauren Santo Domingo has stunning shelving in her Paris home.
Minnie Mortimer’s Los Angeles home has a colorful combined dining room and library.
A particularly handsome reading nook.
A moody, grey Manhattan library by Poma Steven.
Love this cozy country house library. The perfect place to curl up with a book.
Another gorgeous burgundy library. Designed by Miles Redd for Danielle Rollins, the bookcases were trimmed with brass.

What a wonderful treat, Katie, thank you! A library/dining room has always made so much sense to me–makes for great acoustics, stimulates conversation and adds a lovely dual purpose for the table–and is still available for quiet solitude most of the day. Space for a small sitting area and/or some upholstered chairs at the table make it even better. I especially love the lighting in the Ryan Korban room.

Ooh this was so good! My collection is growing out of my old Ikea open shelving, which I’ve decided is my perfect excuse for a big upgrade. This is the perfect inspo!
