My apologies for the radio silence! The pug and I officially moved to Chicago on Sunday evening and it has been a whirlwind ever since. I absolutely love my new neighborhood, the Gold Coast, and everything seems to be falling into place. My friend and her husband live a few floors down and they’d already picked up my keys, unrolled my new Casper mattress (it’s like sleeping on a cloud!), and ordered in Lou Malnati’s. Needless to say, it was the perfect first night. My apartment is just a studio, but has three closets, big windows, and a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. Everyone here is so friendly, the food is spectacular (so far I’ve hit up Fred’s at Barneys, Longman & Eagle, and Lost Lake…), and the architecture takes my breath away. Flat Rate Moving arrives with my boxes from New York this afternoon. I can’t wait to finally unpack and get all settled. I have such a good feeling about this place. Cheers to new beginnings!

Congratulations on your move to the Windy City, Katie! As a Midwesterner myself, I grew up going to Chicago every year for Thanksgiving. I know you’re going to love it! The Ralph Lauren store on Michigan Ave is still just about my favorite store in the world!!
All the best in your new city,
Cait

welcome to the neighborhood!
Freds at barneys is my favorite lunch spot.
And the coffee bar at public hotel is perfect for working.
Also. Third Coast bacon is unmatched.

Congrats on moving to Chicago! By the L&E and Lost Lake trials I’m glad you’re getting out to other neighborhoods :) Bow Truss, Intelligentsia, or La Colombe are great coffee shops, and try any and all Brandon Sodikoff restaurants.
