John (the boyfriend) and I have been going to lots of flea markets lately (an attempt to fill the void in my life now that I’ve left Manhattan and can’t be in Chelsea every Sunday morning). I’ve been pleased to find things are far cheaper down south. After sifting through a fair amount of junk I’ve found some real bargains! The glass pineapple vase above cost only pennies and the 1970 Second Edition hardcover copy of Joan Didion’s (my idol!) Play It As It Lays was such a find. The stools were both in pretty bad shape (think dusty eighties upholstery), but they had such pretty lines and good construction so I snatched them up. All I had to do was pull out a can of spray paint and some Brunschwig & Fils fabric remnants and voila! I’m a very happy girl.
