Spent the day touring Monticello, the Virginia pla

Spent the day touring Monticello, the Virginia plantation home of Thomas Jefferson. This kitchen garden was tended by some of the over six hundred people Jefferson enslaved throughout his life. I found the beauty of this complex place to be spellbinding, but it’s history is painful to say the least. I’m inspired to read more, especially about the Hemings family, after today’s visit.
