On My Radar

Iris Apfel at the 92Y: I am so sad to miss this event! If you’re in New York on March 21 you must attend so I can live vicariously. Iris Apfel will be interviewed live on stage by Fern Mallis. When I lived in New York I attended the 92Y talks with Oscar de la Renta, Kenneth Jay Lane, and Simon Doonan. Beyond inspiring! Also, did you know Iris has a book coming out?!

Princess Charlotte: These new photos of Princess Charlotte absolutely melted my heart. Her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, snapped them shortly before they left for Charlotte’s first day of nursery school. What a little ham she is! Love, love, love.

Jackie, Janet, and Lee: If you’re a fellow fan of JBKO then this one’s for you. Out on January 30, Jackie, Janet & Lee: The Secret Lives of Janet Auchincloss and Her Daughters, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Lee Radziwill, is a new biography of the American style icons. I can’t wait to crack it open. Available for pre-order now.

Phantom Thread: I can’t wait to see Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film starring the talented Daniel Day-Lewis. Set in 1950’s post-war London, Lewis plays a famous dressmaker that designs gowns for royalty, movie stars, and socialites. He falls in love and naturally, drama ensues. I can’t wait to see the costumes! In theaters January 19.

Chinese Wallpaper in Britain and Ireland: I’ve long coveted a jewel box room covered in a bold Chinese paper. This gorgeous new book looks at the history of Chinoiserie wallcoverings in Great Britain. You’re bound to drool over every page.

Terrace House: I leave for Tokyo on Monday, and in preparation for my first trip to Japan, I’ve been binge watching the Japanese reality show, Terrace House. A Danish friend turned me on to it and described it as, “so boring and yet so addictive.” Now I know what she meant. Culturally, I find it absolutely fascinating. Above is Arisa Ohata, one of the stylish roommates.
