I’m over the moon to share that Simon, Gabe, and I are moving up to New York in two short weeks – and, yes, Wilbur the pug is coming, too! Though we’ll miss our friends in North Carolina dearly – my girlfriends are throwing us a farewell party next weekend and I will definitely ugly sob – our family is ridiculously excited for this new chapter in the Big Apple. Gabe even told his teacher we are moving into Taylor Swift’s building…dream on, sweet boy! Longtime readers may recall that I’ve lived in New York twice before, but residing there as a parent of a five-year-old and a homeowner promises to be an entirely new adventure.
We’ll be living on Roosevelt Island, a small spot in the East River nestled between the Upper East Side and Queens (more on why we picked the area to follow). I’ve been flying up regularly over the last few weeks to check on our apartment renovations – stay tuned for a fun before and after! I’ll share more details as the move unfolds (so. many. boxes.), but just couldn’t wait any longer to break the news.
Though I’m originally from California and my husband is from England, for both of us there’s something about New York that feels like coming home. Last week we were walking through Chelsea holding Gabe’s little hands when he exclaimed, “mommy and daddy, I just love New York so much!” We are so fortunate to have this opportunity and I am proud of our family for having the courage to take the leap.
Please let me know if there is any New York-specific content you’d like to see in the future (museum hopping? restaurant recs? boutique faves?). I can’t wait to rediscover one of my favorite cities with all of you.
Cheers to exciting days ahead!
P.S. I couldn’t resist pulling together some New York inspired finds, below. I won’t admit how many of them we now own. Enjoy!
