Today I wanted to talk about my favorite recent acquisition, the Amagansett Side Table (check it out here) by Serena & Lily. I purchased it awhile back, but it was on backorder, so when it arrived on our doorstep I’d completely forgotten about it and it felt like Christmas (don’t you just love when that happens?). The modern little table has instantly became my favorite piece in our living room (it’s a work in progress, but that’s a glimpse of the room above). If you follow my instagram stories you already know I have a lot of vintage and antique furnishings (the leopard print settee below, for example) and the clean lines of the Amagansett table make for a perfect balance. Too many antiques in a room can make a space feel like a dusty house museum—I’m all about the modern/traditional mix.
A Cocktail Table for Indoors or Out
When we’re entertaining on our back patio, I’ll often move the Amagansett Side Table outside to brighten things up. It’s made of weather-friendly resin so it can be used indoors or out. We’ve found it’s the perfect place for a summer cocktail to perch. Or better yet, place it next to a chaise lounge and you’ve got the perfect spot to rest your summer beach read.
A Sculptural End Table
The sculptural base of the Serena & Lily table is what originally caught my eye. It reminds of the early midcentury creations of Jean Michel Frank—like the plaster designs that are all the rage again, it subtly stands out from the crowd. I can just picture my Amagansett Side Table nestled in Brancusi’s studio in Paris. The table has a white matte finish that is understatedly chic and adds to its sculptural vibe. Sometimes I move my table beneath a vintage faux burlwood desk we have in our living room (I’m a big fan of little tables under bigger tables), other times I place it on the wall between an etagere and our fireplace. The Amagansett is light enough to move around the room with ease.
A Childproof Accent Table
Having a two-year old at home it’s also important to me that our furnishings be durable. Thankfully, the Amagansett table has passed the test with flying colors. Gabe has kicked soccer balls against it, driven a multitude of toy cars across it, and spilled milk on top—luckily for me, you’d never know. I’m a big fan of furniture these days that is both stylish and Gabe-proof.
One of our pugs, Wilbur, made a cameo when I was snapping photos yesterday so naturally I had to include him. Also pictured in these images is Serena & Lily’s Montford Floor Lamp (above on the right–it has a handsome brass finish) and the Cayman Glasses (that’s one beside the peonies! They’re handcrafted with recycled glass and woven seagrass–we use them year round).
Honestly, I’m so pleased with my beloved recent purchase that I’m seriously contemplating ordering a second for beside the upholstered chaise in our bedroom (Simon loves it too and thinks I should!). I hope you’ve found this post helpful. If you like, you can explore all Serena & Lily’s wonderful side tables here.
Lastly, below I’ve curated all my favorite Serena & Lily pieces (in case you are in need of something else!). I recently ordered two Pondicherry headboards (striped in Gabe’s room and plaid for mine!) and I can’t wait to share them with you when they arrive:
