I went to the optometrist yesterday and was told that, at the age of 29, I need my first pair of glasses. I was thrilled! I’ve always envied girls that get to wear geek chic frames. Did you know studies have proven that eyeglasses really do lead strangers to believe you’re more intelligent…? Boy, will I fool them! This morning I’m heading to Warby Parker to pick out my first frames. Let me know if you have any suggestions or favorites. I’m learning toward the new Simone, the original Winston, or the cat-eye Holcomb. Wish me luck!
UPDATE: I settled on the Duckworth in Jet Black Matte and I love them!

I’m a bit of a Warby Parker addict – I have four pair (and want more). I have both the Holcomb, along with Colton, Preston and Tenley. I LOVE my Holcomb pair. I have them in whiskey tortoise, but I want the light tortoise, as well. I love the way they look on me, and I find myself wearing glasses more than I ever did (I’ve worn glasses and/or contacts since I was about 8). I also have my eye on those Simone frames.

I have the Finch and Huxley frames, myself. I’m loving two-tone frames right now, so Simone is my pick, but the Winston is classic and nerdy in all the right ways. WP frames are so inexpensive—why not both? Good luck (from a girl who’s worn glasses for 29 years)!

I have the Preston (brown and white tortoise shell) and Finch (brown/dark brown tortoise) frames. I get so many compliments on the Prestons, it’s ridiculous. One time I was just minding my own business in a Home Depot contemplating home improvement supplies, and out of nowhere, some dude told me he loved my glasses. Ha ha! Seriously, the Prestons rock!

Can’t believe no one’s recommended the Chamberlains yet! A year later, and I’m still obsessed with them and seek our my reflection everywhere I go just to check myself out :)

Emily – The Chamberlains were my second choice! I ended up going with the Duckworth though. I’m anxiously awaiting their arrival next week!
Warby Parker is the best! I need mine for distance only, so I got prescription sunglasses along with my glasses and they’re still going strong a year later (the pair I had before that lasted for three!). I have Madison for my sunglasses and Reynold for my glasses.
I think it’s great that there was a time when having to get glasses was considered this horrible thing, but now it’s like “yay, I will look so cute”. Haha.
But now you get to go through the process of finding the “perfect pair”… which in my experience is almost impossible and makes me wish I had infinite money so I could just pick 10 pairs instead of having to only choose one… but hopefully you will have better luck than I did ;)
