Jane Austen Classic Novels

I spotted these lovely new editions of Jane Austen’s classic novels in London last September and was extremely tempted to make room in my suitcase. They were in the gift shop of the National Portrait Gallery and their colorful patterned spines immediately jumped off the bookshelf. Painted by Leanne Shapton, an American artist I so admire, the series includes Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, and Emma. I’m so pleased to learn they’re now available stateside in hardback at Anthropologie.com and after some digging, in paperback on Amazon. They’d make a fantastic birthday or graduation gift, don’t you think? I just may have to treat myself…
