I took this instagram last night after I’d “put my face on” (as my Grandmother Rita says…) and had a request to share my favorite makeup products. I’m a bit of a beauty junkie so I hope I don’t bore you to tears. Let me know if this is helpful and I’ll post more makeup/skincare/beauty content! Oh and everything I know I owe to Kevyn Aucoin’s lovely book Face Forward. He made so many women feel beautiful and was a true artist. I highly recommend it.
1/ Foundation – Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation Medium Beige / I love liquid foundation as well (Make Up For Ever for full coverage, Laura Mercier for light coverage), but this stuff is so easy. Simply layer it where you’d typically use concealer.
2/ Bronzer – Benefit Hoola / A great matte bronzer. If you like a hint of shimmer try NARS Laguna, love it as well.
3/ Tweezers – Tweezerman Slant Tweezer / I’ve never had my eyebrows “done.” I just keep them tidy with these.
4/ Eyebrow Pencil – Cover Girl Browshaper & Eyeliner in Soft Brown / Have been using this since high school. As you may have gathered, I love a strong brow.
5 / Eyeshadow – bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 4.0 in The Truth / A recent purchase — the perfect brown palette. Also love Cover Girl’s Eye Enhancer in Swiss Chocolate.
6 / Eye Liner – Cover Girl Perfect Point Pencil in Black Onyx / I also have an Armani pencil, but honestly, I can’t tell a difference.
7 / Liquid Eye Liner – Almay Liquid Liner / The waitress at our local diner has the perfect cat-eye and this is her trick. I found it at the drugstore and love the wand. Also a fan of Bobbi Brown’s gel liner.
8 / Eyelash Curler – Tweerzerman Curler / An essential step.
9 / Mascara – Stila Glamoureyes / A new favorite. Also love the tried and true Diorshow mascara.
10 / Blush – NARS Blush in Orgasm / The perfect peachy-pink. A cult classic.
11 / Highlighter – Benefit High Beam / For the inside corners of my eyes, a small dot at the top of my eyelid, my browbone, etc.
What products do you swear by? I’d love to hear!

I use several of these products myself. Love them! Can’t wait to try High Beam. Another favorite of mine is a lip gloss by Bobbi Brown called Rosy. Perfect for Spring/Summer. Don’t be fooled by its bright appearance in the tube, it’s a flattering color for all skin tones.

Love Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, Mac cream blush and a definite Spring favorite has been Revlon Lip Butters. I also use some of the products you featured.

Katie, you have the most envious perfectly arched brows.
Lucky girl !
I’m a great fan of MAC products. Especially the Back-to-Mac recycle program where you return 6 empty cases and you get a free lipstick of your choice !
Lips: Velvet Teddy is my go to nude color. Cremesheen gloss has a luscious texture and never sticky.
Eyes: shadow Bamboo & Mulch are lovely earthy favorites and they never crease.
I also love YSL Touche Eclat for undereye circles and inner corner. Comes in a very convenient pen-like applicator.
And have you tried NARS liquid Illuminator in Orgasm?
Its great to put on after your sunscreen because it gets rid of the chalky whitish cast SPF can create. It gives the loveliest dewey glow !

You look like a movie star. Classic and lovely.

I heart Nars Laguna and Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer! I use Sand but always think it is a little too dark, oh well. I also use a ton of your go to’s. Cant wait to try high beam on the inner corners of my eyes.

Oh, thank you so much, Katie! I was the person who requested this on Instagram! I love this post!
I always thought that bronzer was for silly girls who don’t mind looking orange but after some research (and obsessive YouTube-ing), I purchased some matte bronzer while on vacation in Italy and I don’t think I can ever go back. I dust just the tiniest bit on my face and (at least in my mind), I instantly look healthier.
I also agree with you on the NARS-orgasm blush. It’s really the best out there. I periodically scrape off the oil deposits on its surface with a butter knife to clean it off. It gives your blush a second-life.
Thanks again! I love your blog!

I cannot live without: Laura Mercier tinted illuminating moisturizer, Nars Cactus Flower cream blush, Nars Manhunt lipstick, Trish Mcevoy eyebrow pencil.

I LOVELOVELOVE the bare escentuals mineral makeup – I can’t leave the house without it. Also a huge fan of nars blush and my personal favorite for mascara is clinique high impact.
I would love to see more beauty posts on the neotrad!
P.S. The new site looks amazing!

I love makeup/beauty tips, keep ’em coming! What about lipcolor? Any favorites? I find myself reaching for a high school favorite lately, Clinique’s Black Honey Almost Lipstick. Great texture, great color, always polished for every day.

Oh my goodness you are just gorgeous and your ‘face’ routine looks perfect Miss Katie! I’m also totally obsessing over the new blog design. I too am trying to put more effort into my blog. But go you! xoxo

Oh, I LOVE this. Love looking inside other people’s makeup bags (and purses!). Love all of these products — some are in my own inventory and some are going on my must-try list! I don’t know if you would be interested in doing a vlog, but I would love to see a makeup tutorial of you putting on your face.
Oh, and my recommendation is for a great concealer — Amazing Concealer (couldn’t be more appropriately named!). It is the BEST thing for undereye circles. Seriously, you pat it on and it is like photoshopping your face! And it comes in tons of colors for a whole range of skintones. Check it out at Sephora — the small tube lasts forever!

This has been my favorite eye liner brush for years. I’ve tried MAC, didn’t work as well as this one. Even the ones bobbi brown has in a eyeliner and/or shadow pallette don’t compare with this one.
Anna @ IHOD says
Katie, I have been looking for a good new mascara (I am a junkie;)) and I love the color of the blush! Thanks for the round up!

wow- that picture is STUNNING.
Love that so many of your go-to products are available to the drugstore. I, for one, can’t afford $27 for the eyeliners promoted in magazines!

Yes more of this! Love it. My new fav is not glamorous but I love it – Too faced primed & poreless. It makes my skin look flawless :)
