Happy Sunday my loves! So pleased to share that today I’ve been included in a piece in the San Francisco Chronicle (off to buy a hard copy to send to grandmother!). They asked a group of bloggers about design trends for 2011 and I bet you can guess mine…”classics, shaken and stirred!” I’m not one for trends so I thought I’d simply stick to what I know best. Anywho, hope you enjoy these little snippets of my desk space. I played around with some of my favorite trinkets and put my amateur photo skills to the test. How I wish I could have all of you over for bubbly to celebrate! 2011 is going to be a swell year, I can feel it ; )

Looks terrific~especially love the clock and the gingham!
Thank you everyone for your enthusiasm and kind words! xo
Susan — The clock is from Pottery Barn! One of my favorite pieces. An absolute bargain : )
Katie, that is so fantastic! Congrats. Going over now to read the piece.
Oh mylanta this is fantastic! Congrats to you! I love your desk photos! Not amateur at all!
Such an inspiration! I’ve been working on my tiny desk for a while, but I don’t think it will be finally finished until we move to a different place. One small step at a time though!

PS – Congrats dear!
Katie- they spelled your last name wrong in the article!! :o Wanted to let you know!
Colleen — Oh my goodness! I hadn’t even noticed! Such a bummer that it will be that way in print, c’est la vie! Hopefully I can get them to correct it online. I’m still getting used to my new last name, hahaha. xoxoxo
I agree! Congratulations! The blue and white plates and gingham are adorable. Happy New Year! xo
Love that bamboo clock. What a charming space!
I wouldn’t worry about it : ) I just wanted to say something in case they could change it in time! I know, I’m still working on my signature as well!
your desk is great!! i think it’s that little splash of bright-but-lady-like pink on the book spine that does it for me…
i’m with you on not being too trendy…we had a bizarro incident this past week…a car crashed into our (circa 1935 house). besides taking out an entire brick wall–our wonderful contracter has saved as much of the original brick as possible–it smashed my grandmother’s baby grand, mauled my husband’s grandmother’s burled walnut coffee table, embedded shattered glass in all of the upholstery of old furniture, etc, etc & lots of ect…
i’ve been trying to explain to our insurance company why i don’t want to just replace all of this, i want it restored to the original state.
we neo-traditionalists have a hard time in the modern world….
thrilled for your chronicle piece!

Congratulations on the Chronicle! All the best from London,

So lovely!! I especially love that your books actually look like they’ve been cracked & read – dog ears and all. And I am a gingham girl all the way, so I love your navy choice. Your ensembles have so much personality and charm!!
Nanne — That is SO horrible. I am so sorry for your loss. So much of that is irreplaceable I’m sure. Keeping my fingers crossed you can put it back together. If there’s a will there’s a way, right? xo
Polly — From London?! Oh now I’m jealous : ) xoxo
Patty — Thank you! I do my best to read them! xx
That space looks to bright and cheery!
Right up my ally.
love it

So much to devour visually, Katie! I love your recommendations and your traditional-with-a-twist outlook on the year. Happy 2011 to you!
Fantastic news. A great way to start the new year. Now, after seeing your pretty photos, I’m off to shape up my desk! Thanks for the inspiration! XO
Too cute!!!!!! I love love love the gingham!!
Love it! I just started decorating my desk area. I would just love to nail some stuff up to the wall but it’ll sadly have to wait until I move.
Cheers!
How do you get any work done at your desk?
I would just sit there going “My desk is FABULOUS!!!” and admiring it…
Love the blue and white willow plates, love the brass, love the dogs and LOVE the gingham…so stunning and so stylish!
