AWESOME quote! I knew I liked that Matisse. I remember visiting a Matisse exhibit in London that was about the relationship between his artwork and the textiles (i.e. from the home and wardrobe) he used as inspiration. The image you provided is a perfect example!

when I was in my late 20’s I took a beginning oil painting class where I tried to copy Matisse…grin…I thought I was amazing…and when I saw it years later I thought I would die. He is amazing.
