Kate I shuffled into work this morning at 8:00, dodging all the suits on K Street with one very large pineapple lamp in tow. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t stop half way to wipe my brow and wonder what exactly was I thinking. So heartening, then, to get the lamp all set up on my desk and then see this quote! And P.S., the greyhounds arrived last week safe, sound, and right on time – you are so GOOD! Full report later, XOXO
Love Miss Rumphius! I’ve actually met Barbara Cooney as she lived in a town near mine when I was growing up in Maine! She was a sweet woman, very short and very quiet, but also very loving!
Natalie — You just made my day! I want to see a picture of your office with the pineapple lamp! I owe you an email! XO
Emily — I can’t believe you met her! I asked my fiance this morning if he recalled the book (he grew up in Maine too!) because I was certain it must take place there. I’m ordering us a copy pronto, nevermind that we don’t have children. I’ll read it to my pug! XO
I loved this book growing up. This is definitely a philosophy I firmly believe in. You’ve been posting some great quotes lately – that last one from Dickens perfectly describes the weather today in NYC.
love this quote!!

Thanks Ann! I couldn’t believe my luck when I found the Dickens quote—it’s true of the weather here as well! XO
Mmmmm, really liking this quote (as Ann mentioned, it’s gorgeous in NY!)
