I just read 1stDibs’ Style Compass with fashion genius Peter Som and had to recommend you do the same. They always do such a wonderful job in profiling their designers—reading it was such a treat! In Som’s case we learn about his childhood growing up in the San Francisco bay area the son of two Bauhaus-inclined architects. He recalls a home brimming with pieces by Knoll and Herman Miller in which he “…would often sit in a Marcel Breuer chair and watch the fog roll over the hills, through the valley and up to the house.” Sounds fabulous, no? Som also raves about two of my favorite cities, Paris and Barcelona, and gushes about his love for color (tangerine-orange strié and antique pink…sigh!). There are also tibits about his time working for Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, and Bill Blass before starting his own line—impressive to say the least. Adore him as much as I do?
