You’ve probably seen images of Christopher Spitzmiller’s home in The New York Social Diary, but did you know that they also photographed the ceramist’s studio? This is where the magic happens! On the chance you’re not familiar with Spitzmiller’s creations, these lamps are each one of a kind and can be done in any of the beautiful, vibrant glazes shown below. Each lamp sits on a hand turned hardwood base that is water gilt with either 23k yellow gold or 9k white gold. The bases can also be stained mahogany or enameled for a lacquer finish. As you will find below, Spitzmiller’s lamps are not run-of-the-mill, mass produced items—each piece is a carefully crafted work of art. Pictured above: The Cameron.
And they’re finished! Some of my favorite styles:
The Ridged Single Gourd Lamp
The Aurora Double Gourd Lamp
The Garniture Lamp
The Gooseneck Gourd Lamp
