Princess Charlotte’s First Birthday: Today is Princess Charlotte of Cambridge’s first birthday! Yesterday, the palace released a few photos taken by HRH the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate is a talented photographer!) and the little royal is every bit as adorable as one might imagine.
British Vogue June 2016: Speaking of HRH, the upcoming issue of British Vogue features the Duchess of Cambridge on the cover and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy. One of the perks of living in the EU is getting all my favorite European magazines in a timely manner. I love how casually she’s styled here in a striped Petit Bateau top.
Don’t Tell Alfred: While in London last week, I picked up a copy of this Nancy Mitford classic and I can’t put it down. A brief synopsis: “Fanny Wincham has lived contentedly for years as housewife to an absent-minded Oxford don, Alfred. But her life changes overnight when her beloved Alfred is appointed English Ambassador to Paris. Soon she finds herself mixing with royalty and Rothschilds…” I can’t wait to dive back in tonight! What have you been reading lately…?
Mario Testino at GL Strand: Peruvian-born photographer Mario Testino is exhibiting in Copenhagen for the first time and I couldn’t be more thrilled. The exhibit will fill three floors of GL Strand and feature many of Testino’s famous portraits of royalty and fashion icons. Open May 13 – September 18, 2016.
Florence Foster Jenkins: I spotted a poster for this film in the South Kensington tube station and knew I had to share it with you. In theaters May 6 in England and August 12 in America, the seemingly hilarious BBC film stars Meryl Streep as a wealthy New York heiress attempting to become an opera singer despite her horrendous voice. Hugh Grant stars as her doting husband. Watch the trailer here.
Don’t Tell Alfred sounds great! I started reading her book “The Pursuit of Love” some time ago, which I loved/thought hilarious, but just ran into a busy period and never finished. You’ve inspired me to pick it back up again! Hope you had a nice trip to London.
Jamie – I started ‘The Pursuit of Love’ years ago as well and never finished! Will have to pick it back up again too! xx
Love the pic of Princess Charlotte – she is darling! I think she is on a “Deauville” dining chair by Vincent Sheppard, a wicker furniture company based in Belgium. I have had these chairs on my wish list for a while now. Great post!
Read The Blessing after Don’t Tell Alfred it continues the story of Fanny. It is one of my favourite novels.
Alison – The chair is so great. I want to see more of their home!
Antoinette – Will pick up a copy of ‘The Blessing’ next! Thanks for the tip!
