When a client wanted a “room to get away from it all” architecture firm Messana O’Rorke looked no further than the water tank on his roof deck. By repurposing the water tower they managed to create an “urban tree house” in the heart of downtown Manhattan. The four-story building is an zen-like, empty space used by the client to unwind and relax. Doesn’t that sound lovely…? The apartment below is equally impressive and includes a new custom stainless steel spiral staircase that the client thought would encourage him to visit the roof more often. I’d happily move in…!
