I am absolutely, positively in LOVE with the cover of the March 2010 Elle Decor. I mean really, isn’t it a dream?! The blue isn’t far off from the hue I selected for my very first apartment and the collage of artwork is absolute perfection. I just adore the ticking stripe on the settee across from the tufted chair back and of course, the lavender ikat-esque throw pillow… Okay, so I want it all. My old boss and mentor, Shaun Jackson (an Elle Decor cover veteran), once told me the best way to truly assess a magazine layout was to take your finger and cover up the flowers. If the room still looks striking minus the burst of fresh blooms then you’ve got yourself a winner. Clearly, this room (designed by Nate Berkus and Anne Coyle) stands alone, therefore passing the test. It hits newsstands on February 9th—until then, try your best not to drool.
LOVE THIS ROOM!!! That blue is very reminiscent of your old place!
Ohh this is perfection! Can I move in?
Lindsay — If you move in take me with you!
Hello! What a sumptuous room! So very lush! I really like the idea of covering up the flowers – I will be trying that out for sure… Thanks so much for coming by today … I love your page – so many great ideas here. I will definitely be back.
Best,
Stephanie

I actually enjoy the room more without the flowers! I love how the gold accents look against the blue walls. I’m in love.
Your old boss’ editorial test is so smart! I never would have thought of that. Can’t wait to get my hands on that issue.

what an awesome idea… cover up the flowers. Duh! It makes so much sense… LOVE that ikat cushion cover. Yum.
This is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I feel like I’ve been out of touch darling. It’s been a crazy week with all kinds of new projects popping. I hope you’re having a good week. I’m going to e-mail you later with a question. Have a great night.
I covered up the flowers and yes, I am in love. Am I swayed by the blue? Possibly. But that’s okay because lots of blue or no, it’s still fabulous. I just had this moment like “Why in the world have I not been reading Elle Decor??” Oh, yes, yes, that will change.
I want to live in that room! I wish they had Elle Decor over here (for under $20)- I think this is one of those instances where I will have to ask my mom to pick this issue up for me!
Looks like we both got a message from the same birdie! I just posted the cover this morning because it’s the most beautiful room I’ve seen in a while. I am loving the blue and am already brainstorming where I can add it to one of my projects!
Heather — You MUST find somewhere to use it—it’s absolute heaven! I can’t wait to read the entire issue! XOXO
Lindsay — I remember this dilemma! I bought so many magazines in Switzerland it was really unhealthy. At one point my then boyfriend forced me to count them all and add up how much I’d spent—let’s just say it wasn’t pretty.
Sigh…..I want to live here….it’s AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok, now i have to post it too….it’s just tooooooo pretty…
I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s funny because until recently I was not a fan of blue. But I can’t seem to get enough of it now. This room is great and I love the “rule of thumb (finger;)” from Shaun. Can’t wait to get my hands on this one!
I’ll be buying this issue for sure! Beautiful! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for the lovely comments!
why oh why havent I received mine in the mail yet.
Holy hell – i need to get myself a subscription stat. Gorgeous!
