I just received my catalog from The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store and am smitten with these three pairs of antique-y earrings. I became a member of the museum when I lived in Manhattan last year and it was deadly—not only is the art collection unparalleled, but the gift shop is an art lover’s Eden. The turquoise and pearl “forget-me-not” sets are based on a design by Peter Carl Fabergé that was popular in 19th century Russia. The last pair of daisies is also based on a Fabergé design, drawn from an individual flower in his famed Basket of Wild Flowers Egg. How I adore history…especially when combined with costume jewelry.
Oh the turquoise ones are so pretty! (Well they all are, but those are my favorite.)
I’ve got to go to that museum someday.
Turqouise is one of my favorite colors! These are all so fantastic! So classic never-go-out-of-style fantastic.
So gorgeous! I have some of my Great Grandmother’s costume jewelry like these that are so much fun to wear!
I want those turquoise earrings!
oh my, how amazing! I love museum gift shops, a piece of history becomes more alive with the little replica treasures you take home with you. and such great conversation topics unique jewelry makes! thank you for sharing!
