I hope all my lovely readers are enjoying the weekend. John and I rented the most endearingly honest movie last night and on the chance you haven’t already seen it, I just had to share. “The Squid and the Whale” was written and directed by Noah Baumbach and produced by Wes Anderson, need I say more? Impressively shot on Super 16mm (mostly handheld), the semi-autobiographical film takes place in Park Slope, Brooklyn in the 1980’s and tells the story of two boys struggling with their parents’ divorce. Laura Linney and Jeff Daniels (below) play the quarreling parents and in nailing their roles manage to make the film both heart-wrenching and hilarious. I can’t reccomend it enough.

I love this film.
I can’t believe that the people at the Oscars totally overlooked Laura Linney again! She was amazing in this movie – like she is with most of her movies (Kinsey, the Savages).
Anyways, I’m more of a Jesse Eisenberg fan. LOL.

Laura Linney is one of my favorite actresses of all time—you have such good taste Paul : )
