In 1956, fashion photographer Norman Parkinson travelled to India to shoot an editorial for British Vogue. He snapped models Anne Gunning and Barbara Mullen throughout the vast country, from the Taj Mahal to the Jaipur City Palace and beyond. The resulting images, shown here, inspired Diana Vreeland to famously proclaim that “pink is the navy blue of India.” The stunning architecture and landscapes in Parkinson’s photos have me terribly excited for my fall trip to Delhi, Jaipur, and Udaipur. Have you ever been to India…? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I studied abroad in India in college. It could be pretty overwhelming as a traveller, but is an absolutely incredible country (and endlessly fascinating). These pictures make me nostalgic for it!
