Saturday night my Dorset boy and I went to see Far From the Madding Crowd and I absolutely loved it. Novelist Thomas Hardy was from Dorset and the book and film are set in its stunning countryside. They’re releasing a Penguin Classic version of the book this month and I can’t wait to add it to my bookshelf. The trailers included Testament of Youth, which hit theaters on Friday. Based on British author Vera Brittain’s World War I memoir (she left her studies at Oxford to serve as a nurse), the film looks fantastic though heart-wrenching.
