I’m headed back to New York in three weeks for work. Can’t say that I mind. I have these binders of archived clippings I’ve saved since elementary school (a Vogue article here, a neatly folded Sunday Styles page there…) and in them I came across this Ezra Pound quote scribbled on a piece of ruled paper. So well put.
“Is New York the most beautiful city on earth? It is not far from it. No urban nights are like the nights there. I have looked down across the city from high windows. It is then that the great buildings lose reality and take on magical powers. Squares and squares of flame, set and cut into the ether. Here is our poetry, for we have pulled down the stars to our will.” -Ezra Pound, 1913

Paris is by far my favorite city on the planet but New York does have this overwhelming feeling of raw vitality, glamour and prowess that is indeed intoxicating.
Can you imagine Ezra Pound said this back in 1913 !?
It’s as true today as it was then…

When you are in NYC stop in at Barneys, head to the Kevin Aucoin counter and ask for Jason Haun. You have mentioned liking Face Forward. Jason’s been my best friend since junior high and has turned my into everyone from Edie Sedgwick to Sandra Bernhard. Take in a photo for inspiration and have a blast!

Kate – I am totally doing this!!!
Kate Ferrari says
Katie- If he is not there, leave a message for him. He will hook you up! We have a photo shoot every time he comes back to our hometown (close to Fallingwater) and it is always an amazing time. My before and after shots are unbelievable.
Oh- please pardon my spelling/grammar errors… I’ve never posted on a site like this before.
Have a great trip!
