I thought it might be fun to share with you some new books that have quickly become my favorites. I love giving them as gifts!
Clockwise from the top left: 1) Are you a Jackie or a Marilyn? So entertaining…I’m a bit of both! 2) Let’s Bring Back. A book every Neo-Trad should have on their shelf! 3) Allure. I have an old version of Diana Vreeland’s masterpiece and was delighted with this chic new edition! 4) Balenciaga, Venet, Givenchy: Grand Traditions of French Couture. The images make my knees go weak! Lots of Audrey Hepburn! 5) Oleg Cassini The Wedding Dress. Grace Kelly graces the cover, enough said. 6) Harper’s Bazaar Fashion: Your Guide to Personal Style. This little book has a fantastic gold cover and is brimming with timeless style advice. 7) Little Book of Letterpress. A must-have for your stationery obsessed gal pals. 8 ) The Finest Rooms in America. The interior design nerd inside of me died over this beautiful book. It includes Albert Hadley’s apartment, one of my all-time favorites.
My sister in law handed me the “Let’s Bring Back” book in a bookstore recently and after flipping through, I was like, “hmmm…I didn’t realize people didn’t still do this stuff!”
I want all of these! Are you a Jackie or a Marliyn looks great!
Newly Domesticated — I think we’re a rare breed : )
Dancing Branflake — It is great! A very entertaining read!
I so want the Little Book of Letterpress … amazing!
So, I’m just going to print this page and tack it up on the board above my desk…
remember the article a while ago about things to bring back? I have no idea now who wrote it or where it was published, but half a dozen people sent me links and I also seemed surprised that those things were no longer widely in use…
Living in a bit of a time warp has some advantages!
Molly — It’s SO cute. Profiles different letterpress companies around the US and their charming paper goods. A must have!
Ami — Love this! You’re a neo-trad through and through.
woah, i just uploaded my book guide to flickr this morning! let’s bring back is definitely on the list!
“Let’s Bring Back” looks amazing! I may need to make some last minute additions to my Christmas list :)
A darling friend dropped off the new Allure today for my Christmas gift. I can’t wait to enjoy it page by page. All the others look right up my alley, too!
I am bookmarking this page for 2011 reading!
For your six degrees of separation moment of the day, the author of “Are you a Jackie or a Marilyn” is my boss’s sister. I haven’t read the book but I have read “What Would Audrey Do” and “Audrey Style”, also by Pamela Keogh. Let me know how it is!

I’ve been wanting to read Allure forever!

Hi Katie, Love your book choices . Finest Rooms is destined to become a classic.
Heard about the Marilyn/ Jackie book and I am some of both too.
Will try to lose myself in the book store to check out the others.
My wish list is packed with interior design books which should come as no surprise.
Xo, Lynn
What lovely choices! I’d be happy if anyone gifted me those. :)
