so true. what i am going to try and do today (and all holiday weekend) is go with the flow. my husband’s family is in town, and normally, i feel the need to micromanage all details. but this weekend, i’m going to take the passenger seat and see what happens.
i think it will be an interesting exercise for me, and maybe good because it will show me (i hope!) that the world doesn’t fall apart if i loosen my grip.
but just in case…i have my lists and contingency plans at the ready!

Pillow Mint—I’m excited you’re going to participate! Today I did something that I felt a bit nervous/silly about: I asked a really sweet girl I met at a cafe out to lunch! She also moved to the mountains of Appalachia from New York City and completely understood how hard it is adjusting to a small town and making new girl friends here. I felt silly asking her for her number, but she seems really excited to hang out and I’m ecstatic to have someone to go to girly movies with and shopping and such! My fiance will appreciate being relieved of these duties, no doubt : ) Look forward to hearing what you did! XX Kate “the NEO-trad”

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.”

Stepping outside your comfort zone opens you up to possibilities you could never have dreamed of. Even in the simple example of speaking to someone you might not have otherwise spoken to, you open yourself up to a new friendship that could last. Had you not spoken to her, nothing would have changed and your comfort zone would have remained boring.
I also think that when you step out of your comfort zone, that circle naturally becomes grander and so do your dreams. This is the only real way to live life.

good for you, kate!! that is gutsy — well, it would be gutsy for me.
i’ll be sure to report back. today hasn’t provided many opportunities for dancing outside of the comfort zone.
