I stumbled across these paper cut wigs last night and can’t stop thinking about them and all their intricacy. Aren’t they so very sculptural and fabulous? Yes, I would like one for display in my apartment.

Isn’t it astounding how incredibly talented people are? Are you familiar with Isabelle de Borchgrave? She does the most exquisite paper creations. The Legion of Honor Museum just mounted an exhibition, ‘Pulp Fashion’ – that I blogged about last week. It’s fabulous – and you should definitely try to visit if you haven’t already!

Holy Paper Hair Sculpture!! Those are cool!

those are genius!!
it’s amazing (and exhausting)to think that stylish women used to have their hair styled like that or would have their heads shaved in order to wear wigs that were every bit as intricate as those pieces.
someone needs to do a museum exhibit along the lines of Tortured & Teased: The Art of Hair Design

I was actually thinking about making one of these (although perhaps not quite so large) for a Halloween costume! I made a mad scientist wig for my husband from paper this year. It is very, very dramatic, cheap, and surprisingly easy!

Yes, these paper wigs are amazing! The second I saw them, I just assumed they were from the recent fashion exhibit at LACMA in LA. (You can see some pictures of those paper wigs on our blog, here http://hitsandfits.com/2010/11/fashion-fun-at-the-museum/). It would be fun to have a paper wig costume party one year for Halloween (if not incredibly expensive and time-consuming)!
